About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supports the Family Law Unit by coordinating assignments of Family Court, divorce cases, or other cases to staff attorneys.
- Ensures assignments are made accurately and efficiently in accordance with grant funding requirements.
- Acts as a liaison between the Family Law Unit, Grants Team, and Finance Team to maintain balanced caseloads and monitor attorney allocations.
- Assists the Family Law Director and Family Law Supervising Attorney with assignment of Family Court matters.
- Reviews and assigns incoming referrals from Family Court and other referral sources.
- Utilizes LegalServer to generate reports, review attorney caseloads, and identify cases ready for assignment.
- Monitors and balances attorney caseloads to promote equitable distribution of work.
- Maintains knowledge of grant-funded programs and ensures cases are assigned under appropriate funding sources.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Admitted to practice Law in NYS;
- 3 years’ experience preferred
- Experience in legal services, case management, court administration, social services, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of Family Court proceedings, including Family Offense, Custody, Child Support, and Paternity matters preferred.
- Proficiency in LegalServer or similar case management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review reports, track allocations, and manage multiple priorities.
- Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and spreadsheet management.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making.
- Commitment to social justice and a passion for serving underprivileged communities.
