About the role
- Lead day-to-day implementation of housing component of The Last Mile’s Adult Reentry Grant (ARG) funded by BSCC, including participant support, compliance reporting, and coordination with external evaluation partner.
- This is a Los Angeles-based role that will work remotely, with frequent in-person meetings and partner engagement in the region.
- Case Management (Primary Function): Serve as the primary point of contact for justice-impacted participants placed through the ARG in Los Angeles. Provide individualized case management to 14–18 participants annually (approx. 50 over three years).
- Grant Management & Compliance: Lead all case-related reporting and documentation required by BSCC; support data collection; provide updates to grants team and BSCC; coordinate with external evaluation firm.
- Community & Partner Collaboration: Build relationships with housing providers, transitional housing programs, and reentry service organizations in Los Angeles; participate in regional coalitions; represent The Last Mile at partner meetings.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional case management experience serving justice-impacted or vulnerable populations.
- Demonstrated experience managing or supporting state or federal grants, including outcome tracking, reporting, and compliance.
- Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn BSCC expectations, reporting platforms, and grant evaluation processes.
- Experience building partnerships with external agencies, including service providers and housing resources.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including empathy, cultural humility, and the ability to build rapport with justice-impacted individuals.
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment, while maintaining strong communication with a distributed team.
- Lived experience with the justice system is a plus, but not required.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, criminal justice, or related field.
- Knowledge of housing navigation systems, including rental assistance, emergency housing, and public benefit programs (not required but helpful).
- Previous experience supporting evaluation or research efforts related to public funding.
- Familiarity with Los Angeles’ reentry and housing landscape.
