About the role

  • Interpret live medical conversations between Spanish- and English-speaking parties over the phone with accuracy and professionalism
  • Accurately render medical terminology, symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment instructions in real-time
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and interpreter ethics
  • Use a variety of platforms (phone, VRI, or designated software) to provide seamless communication
  • Serve as a cultural bridge when needed to support patient understanding
  • Record session notes as required by client or organizational procedures

Requirements

  • Full professional fluency in both Spanish and English
  • 1+ year of experience in medical interpretation
  • Completion of a recognized 40-hour Medical Interpreter Training Program (or currently enrolled)
  • Strong cultural competence and awareness of regional language variations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, customer-focused approach
