About the role
- Remove backdoors, malware, injected code, and unauthorized admin access
- Secure and harden WordPress installations (themes, plugins, permissions, database)
- Troubleshoot performance, plugin conflicts, and PHP/MySQL issues
- Review and optimize Cloudflare (WAF, caching, DNS, SSL/TLS)
- Connect and configure Stripe on the website backend API keys, webhooks, checkout flows, testing → production
- Manage backups, staging environments, and safe deployment procedures
- Document findings and recommend security improvements
Requirements
- U.S.-based independent contractor
- 4+ years of WordPress development & administration
- Proven experience removing malware/backdoors and securing compromised sites
- Strong understanding of: PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
- OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices
- DNS, SSL, WAFs, server logs
- Hands-on Stripe integration experience (not just plugin-level)
- Experience with Cloudflare security configuration
- Familiarity with Git, SSH/SFTP, cPanel/Plesk
- Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in compliance-driven organizations (NIST/DFARS/HIPAA)
- Basic AWS experience (S3, Route53, CloudFront, Lightsail)
- Understanding of CI/CD workflows and version control best practices
