About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop written content across campaigns, publications, digital channels, stewardship, fundraising, executive communications, and organizational initiatives
- Interview staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners to identify and develop compelling stories
- Translate organizational priorities into clear, engaging, audience-centered messaging
- Produce speeches, articles, impact stories, web content, email copy, reports, and other written communications
- Manage the editorial calendar in partnership with Communications leadership
- Maintain editorial standards for voice, tone, accuracy, and consistency
- Identify proactive storytelling opportunities that advance organizational priorities
- Maintain and expand Federation's story library
- Partner with Communications, Development, Foundation, Impact, and program teams to develop content supporting organizational goals
- Collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Public Relations to ensure content is effectively delivered across channels
- Support executive communications and organizational messaging as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–4 years of experience in communications, project coordination, event support, or a related field
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and project management tools such as ClickUp
- Sound judgment, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented approach in fast-paced or changing environments
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to anticipate needs and manage multiple competing priorities
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Greater Washington (DC, MD, and Northern VA) region
