About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for physical security and risk management across The J.M. Smucker Company.
Responsible for the strategic protection of the Company’s employees, visitors, properties and assets.
Ensure operational excellence in the implementation of security programs and procedures, emergency preparedness plans and threat mitigation strategies.
Lead and direct a team of approximately 35 Smucker security professionals across North America.
Establish performance standards, conduct reviews and create a culture of growth in supporting the ongoing development of the team.
Develop, implement and manage an enterprise-wide physical security strategy.
Proactively stay abreast of industry trends, security best practices and new technologies.
Provide executive leadership with regular updates on the current security landscape, external trends and emerging security threats.
Ensure proper alignment among Company executives and key stakeholders to deliver on key security priorities and initiatives.
Direct Company-wide physical security program and procedures.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree required
10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity managing large, complex teams
Experience managing multi-site security operations across both corporate and manufacturing environments
Expertise in security systems, surveillance technology, and emergency response procedures
Exceptional leadership, communication, critical thinking and decision-making abilities
Proven experience and ability to investigate incidents, analyze risks and implement required security measures
Strong coaching, conflict resolution, relationship and team building skills; demonstrated ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
Experience managing executive security and travel risk management
Strong collaboration skills and the proven ability to partner with key stakeholders across various functional areas
Proficiency in protective concepts including secure transportation, contingency planning, threat assessment, surveillance and counter-surveillance awareness, and emergency response
Experience facilitating skill assessments, drills, or classroom instruction is strongly preferred
Proficiency in contract negotiation, vendor management, and budget administration
