About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Upload planning documents and keep databases up to date
  • Manage financial tasks, including processing payments and invoices and tracking budgets
  • Answer calls and emails, provide information to colleagues and the public, and resolve queries
  • Issue Street Works Permits to developers undertaking works in the public highway
  • Record permit information on Aurora
  • Organise meetings and book rooms
  • Contribute to team discussions and support and cover colleagues
  • Help design and improve systems and make processes more efficient
  • Provide a welcoming first point of contact, offering advice and guidance
  • Support the delivery of Transport Strategy services across Suffolk County
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to improving services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Level 3 qualification and/or equivalent knowledge and experience in an administrative, customer service, financial, or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage own workload effectively
  • Professional and customer-focused approach when responding to enquiries, including challenging situations
  • Positive, flexible and collaborative attitude
  • Willingness to support colleagues and adapt to changing priorities
  • Eagerness to learn new systems, processes and ways of working
  • Commitment to Suffolk County Council's WeASPIRE values
  • CV required for application progression
  • DBS checks or police vetting may be required for relevant posts
