Finance Officer
The Hold - Home to Suffolk ArchivesFinance Officer supporting directorates and schools in financial responsibilities. Key role in budget management, analysis, and strong financial control practices with a collaborative finance team.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Providing key support to directorates and local authority-maintained schools to help them meet their financial responsibilities
- Advising on core financial activities such as budget monitoring and forecasting
- Supporting effective budget management by accurately inputting, analysing and interpreting financial data
- Helping maintain strong financial control across the Council by supporting the continuous improvement and streamlining of financial processes
- Inputting, analysing and interpreting financial data, providing timely and accurate information
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of financial systems and processes
- Overseeing the accurate processing of journals, virements and other financial transactions
- Monitoring helpdesks and team mailboxes, providing advice and support to finance colleagues
Requirements
What you’ll need- AAT qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs (Grade 4–9 / C and above), including Maths and English, or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience of working within and supporting a finance team
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly
- A positive, proactive approach
- Proven ability to maintain accurate records and interpret and reconcile financial data
- Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
