About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- shaping sustainable development across Suffolk
- responding to planning consultations on behalf of the Local Highway Authority
- working closely with internal colleagues, developers, and local planning authorities to agree high-quality design principles
- using expertise in highways and planning to influence proposals
- negotiating solutions that enable growth and secure vital infrastructure improvements
- assessing applications and contributing to creating more accessible, inclusive communities
- enhancing transport networks for all users
- supporting the development of town-wide transport plans
- collaborating to identify and promote practical schemes that improve connectivity and support Suffolk’s ambitions
Requirements
What you’ll need- passion for promoting high standards of sustainable transport in new developments by influencing a wide audience as to the benefits for the people of Suffolk
- a good level understanding of all aspects of highway design and construction and relevant sections of the Highway Act
- to be capable of representing the team at meetings with internal and external organisations (as appropriate) to provide expert advice in area of work, sometimes in challenging circumstances.
