About the role

  • Under general supervision, assume responsibility for projects of significant importance, scope and complexity or assist on more complex projects.
  • With assistance, solve problems through application of knowledge, experience and original thinking.
  • Provide technical input to current projects and assist in scoping new projects.
  • Review results with others and suggest the advisability of further tests and/or changes deemed necessary.
  • Under light supervision, provide analytical services in support of Cocoa Science initiatives for all cocoa commodity related products.
  • Monitor ingredient, in-process or finished product quality through analytical testing.
  • Perform simple to moderately complex wet chemistry techniques (sample preparation, extraction and analysis).
  • Perform moderately complex chemical analyses using analytical equipment including GC, GC/MS and HPLC instrumentation.
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Prepare standards and controls. Record, compute and evaluate data as well as input data into LIMS.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Chemistry (preferred) or related science field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience
  • Superior working knowledge and comfort in analytical test methods and Good Laboratory Practices
  • Demonstrated experience using analytical instrumentation including chromatography systems (GC, GC/MS and HPLC)
  • Attention to detail, especially with respect to laboratory techniques
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, track and plan.
  • Superior communication skills in verbal and written form.
  • Proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point and LIMS
