About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform accounting for derivative instruments in accordance with both GAAP and Statutory accounting standards.
- Analyze and reconcile financial results for limited partnership investments, including net investment income, market values, and impairment considerations, based on fund capital statements.
- Prepare derivative and limited partnership plans and outlooks used in earnings guidance, including detailed variance analysis.
- Prepare and analyze derivative and limited partnership disclosures for SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K filings, as well as quarterly and annual NAIC filings.
- Develop, support, and maintain information delivery related to derivatives and limited partnerships, including senior management presentations and materials supporting the quarterly earnings call.
- Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies, including the effective use of generative AI tools.
- Partner with portfolio management to understand investment strategies, portfolio trends, and the accounting implications of new initiatives.
- Support hedge documentation and effectiveness testing to ensure compliance with hedge accounting requirements.
- Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and support ongoing monitoring of internal controls.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field required
- CPA a plus
- 3+ years of accounting, reporting or finance experience
- Basic knowledge of capital markets with a desire to learn investment strategies, although an investment background is not required
- Proactive individual with well-developed communication, analytical and documentation skills
- Ability to react and successfully balance multiple competing priorities under strict time constraints
- Ability to take initiative to research and resolve issues
- Strong computer skills, genAI research and application skills, and desire to learn new applications (Maximis, Business Objects, PAFE, WDesk)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
