About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies without supervision because of level of experience and expertise
- Demonstrated expertise in various practice areas across personal and commercial lines of business including Motor Vehicle, Premises, Labor Law, and Products Liability
- Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims on legal and factual issues
- Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions
- Leverage trial experience and litigation skills to drive favorable negotiated settlements
- Comply with Litigation Management Guidelines
- Responsible for the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases
- Establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with the Court, the Bar, within the office and with external business partners
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, operational excellence, and positive leadership
- Utilize Generative Artificial Intelligence tools to generate content in support of decision-making and recommendations
- Provide legal opinions to Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, clients and claims customers
- Mentor and coach staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in New York State required
- Member in good standing of New York State Bar
- Knowledge of New York Supreme Courts
- Insurance Defense: minimum 15+ years of significant, relevant trial experience required
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple duties and time are a must
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal
- Strong computer and technological skills
- Self-motivated to achieve high standards and continuously improve
- Possess agile, growth mindset with willingness to learn and develop
- Demonstrate Expense discipline
- Demonstrated integrity while building trust with our clients, claim professional teammates, attorney colleagues, and support team members
- Able to travel to and handle cases venue in Westchester and Rockland Counties is a plus
- Admitted to practice in Federal Courts is a plus
