About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with maintenance and project teams to plan, perform, and maintain routine application and product modifications, enhancements, and upgrades.
  • Demonstrate environment management expertise to assist teams in environment solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, facilitate collaboration, and resolve test environment issues as well as apply learnings in a continuous improvement capacity.
  • Assist project or technical lead in new database designs, and complex production support activities.
  • Implement solutions based on established reference architecture.
  • Enhance existing database designs for improved longevity, reduced maintenance, and improved performance.
  • Build, configure, upgrade, and maintain Claim application test environments and deploy and configure claim applications and/or application changes in compliance with software development life cycle (SDLC) procedures.
  • Leverage and investigate new tools for automation of deployment, administration and monitoring of test environments.
  • Function as a technical generalist having responsibility for the overall health and performance of the mainframe environments.
  • Plans and coordinates with on and offshore staff as well as various enterprise operations teams with any upcoming changes in but not limited to software versions, security certificates, interface queues or end points.
  • Creates updates and maintains environment and database/environment-related documentation.
  • Supports the overall health of the test environments and their interfaces.
  • Perform production support activities (e.g. database consolidation) as needed for SRE support.
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new product features to tailor solutions for database requirements.
  • Automate routine support tasks.
  • Enforce database processes, procedures, best practices, standards, and SLAs.
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices
  • Follow applicable processes, procedures, policies, standards, best practices, and SLAs.
  • Learn, understand, and champion ITIL frameworks.
  • Integrate process improvements into the way we do our work.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Experience in mainframe development
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, REXX and other mainframe technologies
  • .NET Knowledge required
  • AWS migration process required
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Experience with mainframe software development tools and platforms (z/OS, z/VM, IBM System z)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding mainframe network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS,DNS, Load-balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links)
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
