About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and execute the editorial vision for the Intelligence Unit
- Identify and prioritize a focused set of major national issues for investigation each year
- Build and manage a network of leading external experts, contributors and advisors
- Lead a multidisciplinary editorial team producing journalism across print, digital, video, audio and live events
- Commission and oversee deep reporting, analysis and explanatory journalism that examines causes, consequences and potential solutions
- Work closely with reporters, data journalists, product, audience and design teams to create distinctive editorial experiences
- Ensure the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and editorial integrity
- Represent The Globe in public-facing events
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least five years of editorial leadership experience in a national or major newsroom
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex projects
- Strong news judgment and deep understanding of Canadian public affairs
- Experience working across multiple formats and platforms
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex ideas clearly
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building new editorial products
