About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and execute the editorial vision for the Intelligence Unit
Identify and prioritize a focused set of major national issues for investigation each year
Build and manage a network of leading external experts, contributors and advisors
Lead a multidisciplinary editorial team producing journalism across print, digital, video, audio and live events
Commission and oversee deep reporting, analysis and explanatory journalism that examines causes, consequences and potential solutions
Work closely with reporters, data journalists, product, audience and design teams to create distinctive editorial experiences
Ensure the highest standards of accuracy, fairness and editorial integrity
Represent The Globe in public-facing events

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least five years of editorial leadership experience in a national or major newsroom
Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex projects
Strong news judgment and deep understanding of Canadian public affairs
Experience working across multiple formats and platforms
Ability to synthesize and communicate complex ideas clearly
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building new editorial products
