About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Teach 12 semester credits per academic year, primarily fieldwork-related courses and courses within professional expertise
Prepare syllabi, update course materials, assess learning outcomes, continuously improve courses, and develop curriculum
Deliver instruction online using university learning management and document storage systems
Provide timely, constructive feedback on student assignments
Advise assigned occupational therapy students on professional conduct, progress, fieldwork planning, and doctoral capstone preparation
Establish and maintain written agreements between UWS and partner organizations
Coordinate Level I and Level II fieldwork experiences for each cohort
Oversee compliance with accreditation standards for fieldwork experiences
Ensure fieldwork experiences connect clearly to the OTD curriculum and accreditation standards, with documented processes and outcomes
Communicate with fieldwork educators regarding objectives, program design, supervision, evaluations, and resources
Maintain professional memberships and current Oregon OT licensure
Engage in continuing education, professional writing, publication, research, conferences, and university service
Serve on relevant program and university committees and support student capstone and publication activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Doctoral degree awarded by an institution accredited by the USDE (OTD, PhD, EdD, etc.)
Degree from a US-accredited occupational therapy program
Occupational Therapist certification initially issued by the National Board Certification Commission for OT
Oregon OT License effective by the start date
Current membership and participation in appropriate state, regional, and national professional organizations
At least 2 years of experience as an occupational therapist
Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training in the roles and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator
Prior experience teaching in a clinical or academic setting
Intermediate-to-advanced computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Professional
Proficiency with video conferencing systems
Working understanding and experience with Canvas or an equivalent learning management system
Proficient document/report preparation
Effective verbal and written communication
Effective management of faculty and students in professional degree programs
Strong organizational, prioritization, execution, and resource-management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to exercise professional judgment and assume responsibility in clinical decision-making
Ability to adapt quickly and learn new systems and processes
Ability to follow direction consistent with university policy
Working knowledge of FERPA student privacy regulations
Official transcripts from prior institutions must be received before an offer is extended
Successful finalist must complete a background check
