About the role

  • Manage practice areas including but not limited to new student orientation, student events including white coat, commencement, and match week, and student activities and organizations in partnership with IllinoisCOM and university personnel
  • Collaborate with university and IllinoisCOM partners to design, implement, evaluate, and maintain engaging and effective student activities, programs, and events that meet the unique needs of medical students
  • Liaison with external community partners to develop rich, relevant co-curricular opportunities for medical students
  • Support the Chicago School Student Association’s initiatives and facilitate engagement between medical students and students in other colleges across the university
  • Advise and guide medical student organizations that promote student engagement, leadership, and professional development
  • Create a culture of student well-being by promoting wellness education and providing appropriate, timely physical and mental health programs, resources, and services
  • Collaborate with IllinoisCOM and university partners to design and offer student events focused on overall student well-being that meet the unique needs of osteopathic medical students
  • Plan, execute, evaluate, and refine relevant, high-impact wellness programs and events focused on holistic medical student well-being
  • Coordinate all logistics for wellness-related activities, including communication, scheduling, marketing, facilitation, and follow-up
  • Analyze the medical student lifecycle from pre-matriculation to graduation and identify opportunities to optimize students’ holistic success through co-curricular engagement
  • Participate in the development and implementation of assessment tools that measure the utilization and effectiveness of events and services and report on outcomes
  • Liaise with university and IllinoisCOM partners to foster effective communication, collaboration, and support, ensuring the successful implementation of department initiatives and enhancing the overall student experience
  • Serve on IllinoisCOM committees and work groups, as assigned
  • Support IllinoisCOM student engagement in university-wide programs
  • Support the maintenance of online content for all assigned functions on the student website, employee intranet, The Chicago School website, and other digital platforms
  • Supervise student employees as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a regionally accredited institution
  • Two to four years of relevant professional work experience, preferably with medical students
  • Evidence of culturally competent practice and demonstrated ability to serve the needs of diverse students, especially those holding historically marginalized identities
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing demands and set priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining superb attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a diverse team, always with flexibility, enthusiasm and determination
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and solve problems
  • Ability to deploy excellent communication and interpersonal skills with varied audiences including individuals and groups
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and technological skills, including the use of Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
