About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students, ensuring a variety of placement opportunities
  • Achieve and maintain a minimum 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance, address concerns, and maintain strong relationships with externship partners
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including TWC regulations
  • Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support students' transition from externship to employment
  • Provide guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externships
  • Conduct externship orientations and assist students with resume writing and interview preparation
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements
  • Track student progress throughout the externship and ensure completion of final evaluations and exit interviews
  • Promote the externship program through outreach and networking within the medical community.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required
  • Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required
  • CPR certification preferred
  • No prior teaching experience required; training will be provided
  • Passion for mentoring students and supporting their professional development.
