About the role

  • Design and evolve golden paths for common developer workflows to improve productivity and consistency
  • Partner with platform and product teams to expose capabilities through the developer portal
  • Build, operate, and maintain the Backstage core platform, including backend services and proxy integrations
  • Manage configuration, secrets, authentication, and deployment pipelines
  • Implement authentication and authorization using OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML
  • Own and maintain the Backstage Catalog, including entity models, metadata, ownership discovery, and validation
  • Develop and manage Backstage Scaffolder templates, reference implementations, and reusable actions
  • Integrate enterprise systems such as source control, CI/CD, artifact repositories, runtime platforms, ITSM/CMDB, and observability tools
  • Create APIs, SDKs, or services (REST, GraphQL, MCP) to expose portal capabilities programmatically
  • Embed security and compliance guardrails such as secrets management, policy checks, and vulnerability scanning
  • Automate audit evidence collection across the software supply chain and portal workflows
  • Define and monitor service‑level objectives (SLOs) for portal reliability, catalog freshness, and documentation builds
  • Implement observability, dashboards, alerting, and participate in incident response and root‑cause analysis
  • Establish governance models for component ownership, lifecycle management, and contribution standards

Requirements

  • Front‑end development using React, TypeScript, component design, and accessibility best practices
  • Back‑end development with Node.js, Express, NestJS, or similar frameworks
  • Experience working with Backstage, including Catalog, Scaffolder, TechDocs, permissions/RBAC, or plugin development
  • Integrations with tools such as GitHub or GitLab, CI/CD platforms, ServiceNow, SonarQube, artifact repositories, or observability tools
  • Understanding of identity and security concepts including OAuth/OIDC, SAML, JWT, RBAC, and secrets management
  • DevOps fundamentals including CI/CD design, Git‑based workflows, containerized applications, and observability
