About the role

  • Oversee the application of technical accounting standards and ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure the organization is prepared for changes in accounting regulations
  • Manage the preparation and review of all external financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports (10-Q, 10-K), ensuring accuracy and compliance with SEC requirements
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Partner with senior leadership to provide technical accounting insights and support strategic financial planning initiatives
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on technical accounting and reporting matters
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in accounting standards to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive
  • Lead and participate in special projects and initiatives as required, providing technical accounting expertise and support.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting + CPA
  • MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
  • Expertise in technical accounting and internal control
  • Demonstrated experience in SEC reporting and SOX compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Insurance and/or health care industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines.
