About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Senior Contract Manager to provide oversight, management and reporting
  • Manage supplier relationships for all supplier contracts in the National Safeguarding Team
  • Provide project management for the Redress Scheme.
  • Manage and track the overall contract management and project plans, identifying risks and issues, and collaborating with the Senior Contract Manager and the team.
  • Escalate any risks and issues, recording and managing actions, decisions, dependencies, and opportunities with the Senior Contract Manager
  • Coordinate the development of contract management guidelines and ensure their implementation.
  • Oversee the delivery of contract communication plans, ensuring effective and timely communication.
  • Monitor contract performance, escalate any difficulties, and maintain positive supplier relationships.
  • Utilize project management tools to proactively track deliverables and ensure timely completion.
  • Implement and maintain systems for efficient planning and scheduling of project activities.
  • Prepare regular reports for governance bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant NCIs policies, procedures, and change control protocols.
  • Engage with operational stakeholders, build relationships, and maintain effective communications.
  • Ensure alignment with survivor engagement protocols and terms of reference across the team.
  • Coach and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a supportive work environment.
  • Responsibility for the invoice management process and reporting, identifying and escalating issues.
  • Develop and maintain networks internally and externally, including national networks.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives to provide information, advice, and support.
  • Proactively engage with NST staff and project teams, including Contract Monitoring and governance group members as well as subject matter experts, on a variety of topics.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of 2 years project manager experience, with hands on practical practice
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or another equivalent project management information system
  • Good knowledge of Excel (e.g. pivot tables, diagrams, formulas)
  • Good knowledge of project finance and budgeting
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills including ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven track record of proactively delivering successful results
  • Experience of ability to build relationships, trust and credibility with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams in a complex environment
  • Resilience and strong decision making are key
  • Dedication to customer service
  • Ability to be rational, objective and unbiased when making decisions and taking action
  • Evidence of resilience, particularly under pressure
  • Excellent report writing
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g. social science, mathematics & logic, engineering or computer science) or relevant and demonstrable work experience that enables demonstrating analytical skills and an understanding of managing people, operations, data, information systems, finance, policy and strategy.
  • Formal qualification in Project Management e.g. PMP (PMI), Prince2 Practitioner (Axelos), PPQ (APM) or equivalent certification, or working towards it. **
  • Desirable:
  • Understanding of the structures of the Church of England and sympathy with its work and aims.
  • Experience working for the Church of England, for Christian Charities, in the public or charity sectors or with safeguarding.
