About the role
- Lead the production of news videos from the idea phase to publication.
- Work to source, acquire, validate and produce user generated content around daily news and events that meet CP’s editorial standards.
- Find trending/viral stories that can be turned into CP content.
- Monitor press conferences, suggest clips/quotes for video and provide timecode/direction for video editors.
- Review video material gathered by Canadian Press staff and identify key quotes/timecodes/footage.
- Write/edit video caption metadata information.
- Review produced videos created by Canadian Press staff and oversee edits.
- Effectively follow news tips and generate story ideas.
- Create text and audio content, when required.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience working in a daily news environment; experience with a news agency would be an asset.
- Must be able to work unpredictable hours, weekends, and off-hours as news coverage demands.
