About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support real estate counsel on land acquisition, title review, easements, rights-of-way, lease negotiations, and landowner relations for renewable energy projects.
  • Assist development attorneys with M&A and due diligence activities and project development matters, including permitting, interconnection, environmental compliance, and stakeholder relations for renewable energy and battery storage projects.
  • Work alongside project counsel to support the construction phase of energy projects, including drafting and negotiating EPC contracts, managing project-level legal issues that arise during construction, and supporting late state project financing.
  • Collaborate with commercial attorneys on power purchase agreements (PPAs), energy storage agreements, hedging arrangements, and other commercial contracts.
  • Support finance counsel on project financing transactions, including tax equity, debt financing.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong academic credentials and demonstrated interest in energy, infrastructure, or transactional law.
  • Renewable energy experience; wind energy, battery storage or general infrastructure project development experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of duties and often challenging tasks.
  • Smart, decisive, organized, methodical, biased toward action.
  • Three to six years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a major law firm or in-house.
  • Bachelor’s Degree JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one jurisdiction.
