About the role

  • Provide astrodynamic analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering and architecting, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems and missions.
  • Conduct a range of analysis using a framework of modeling, simulation and analysis capabilities including in-house, custom and commercially available/government provided modeling tools
  • Analyze electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), radar and passive radio frequency sensor concepts, architectures, and algorithms.
  • Perform space protection and space threat susceptibility, vulnerability analysis and resiliency assessment.
  • Support exercises of space systems and evaluate exercise and training requirements.
  • Application of modeling and simulation for mission operations
  • Contribute to risk and resilience assessments over a broad range of threats to satellite operations including, but not limited to, RF and optical interference and counterspace threats.
  • Support other focus areas of the department, which could include modeling and risk assessments of kinetic threats (such as debris, collision, and disposal), Space Domain Awareness, and mission operations.
  • Provide independent assessments and lead studies with teams of analysts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or another related technical discipline
  • Demonstrated experience within the SDA, space control mission areas or MW/MT/MD mission areas
  • 2 or more years of increasingly responsible and related engineering/scientific experience
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, and/or algorithm development
  • Led development of computer tools and simulations to support analyses of interdisciplinary support teams and performing general systems engineering and integration support
  • Experience in at least one the following programming languages; Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, or FORTRAN.
  • Good interpersonal communication and briefing skills along with the ability to work independently and interact effectively with high-level government, Aerospace, and contractor personnel.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
