About the role
- Provide astrodynamic analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering and architecting, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems and missions.
- Conduct a range of analysis using a framework of modeling, simulation and analysis capabilities including in-house, custom and commercially available/government provided modeling tools
- Analyze electro-optical (EO), infrared (IR), radar and passive radio frequency sensor concepts, architectures, and algorithms.
- Perform space protection and space threat susceptibility, vulnerability analysis and resiliency assessment.
- Support exercises of space systems and evaluate exercise and training requirements.
- Application of modeling and simulation for mission operations
- Contribute to risk and resilience assessments over a broad range of threats to satellite operations including, but not limited to, RF and optical interference and counterspace threats.
- Support other focus areas of the department, which could include modeling and risk assessments of kinetic threats (such as debris, collision, and disposal), Space Domain Awareness, and mission operations.
- Provide independent assessments and lead studies with teams of analysts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or another related technical discipline
- Demonstrated experience within the SDA, space control mission areas or MW/MT/MD mission areas
- 2 or more years of increasingly responsible and related engineering/scientific experience
- Experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, and/or algorithm development
- Led development of computer tools and simulations to support analyses of interdisciplinary support teams and performing general systems engineering and integration support
- Experience in at least one the following programming languages; Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, or FORTRAN.
- Good interpersonal communication and briefing skills along with the ability to work independently and interact effectively with high-level government, Aerospace, and contractor personnel.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
