About the role
- Be responsible for… pre-production: Pre-flight of audio and video projects. Reviewing audio and video files. Proper vendor selection. Scheduling voice talent, studios, video editors and subtitling technicians or suppliers. Providing concise and effective project instructions to all necessary parties
- Production: All aspects of the recording and audio engineering processes, including set-up, file prep and conversion, phone patch function, slating, takes, pick-ups/re-records. Monitoring recording sessions to ensure instructions are being followed and provide feedback. Communicating effectively with engineers, talents and clients during sessions
- Post-production: Audio/video editing Basic audio editing competency and ability to convert audio files to required formats. Completing a thorough and accurate Final Ear to look for mistakes in audio and video files prior to delivering projects
- Be responsible for the entire life-cycle on all projects assigned to him/her: oversee all aspects of project coordination (scheduling and management of all data, personnel and resources) from hand-off through project completion, to ensure on-time, on-budget, and quality delivery
- Serve as a single point of contact / accountability for the projects being handled
- Juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Understand and abide by individual project instructions
- Comply with all ISO regulations, processes and procedures
- Effectively liaise with other departments that are essential parts of project workflow (for instance, Quality Managers, Desktop Publishing, etc.) to ensure that the translation perfectly complies with instructions and is linguistically ideal
- Liaise with Sales Staff to clarify and correct project parameters / Confirm clarity of instructions prior to initiating project workflow, liaising with Sales Representative to modify/correct project instructions/parameters as needed
- Use Computer Assisted Translation tools whenever possible to maximize consistency and profitability
- Use appropriate reference materials/glossaries as needed to maximize consistency and quality
- Establish and maintain excellent relationships with voice talent and vendors worldwide
- Negotiate rates and deadlines with vendors to maximize profitability and efficiency
- Impose sanctions in a timely fashion on linguists as appropriate when a poor or untimely product is returned / File Corrective Action Forms as needed for substandard work performed and work with QA to impose appropriate financial sanctions in those cases
- Bill projects completely and accurately within 24 hours of project completion, complying with all appropriate regulations and processes
- Coordinate with Sales Representative to educate / advise clients regarding the best way to accomplish their goals on individual projects – potentially contacting clients directly
- Return final products to Sales Staff early or on-time consistently
- Communicate any issues/problems/delays or additional information to Sales Representative as soon as that information is available
- Trouble-shoot projects’ problem on an immediate basis
- Investigate client complaints
- Discuss issues with clients and Sales Staff and creatively problem solve to alleviate issues
- Investigate/resolve client complaints, problem solve and work with QA/Management to ensure that appropriate systemic changes are implemented to ensure that any problems that occurred cannot be repeated
- Perform quality checks at various stages of process to ensure quality and accuracy (proofreading, final eye, communication with linguists and client reviewers on specific linguistic issues)
- Work to understand and be knowledgeable about your clients
- Make recommendations to your manager on ways to improve any processes, etc. as part of TransPerfect’s commitment to continual improvement
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by a Manager
- Provides administrative or technical support at an intermediate level. Have gained or have attained full proficiency in project management.
- Be involved in training new members of the team.
- With the support of more senior members, execute sample jobs and/or projects with a higher level of complexity/difficulty
Requirements
- Two years of relevant work experience
- At least 2 year of experience as a PC/PM in the company
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree or it’s equivalent
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English
- Ability to effectively multitask in order to simultaneously execute multiple projects
- Organization skills; able to prioritize; results oriented
- Ability to maintain professionalism and focus under pressure and tight deadlines
- Advanced problem solving/critical thinking skills
- A plus if you have: Prior translation industry experience
