About the role
- Greet patients and visitors in a warm and friendly manner, ensuring a positive experience
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, including screening and directing calls as appropriate
- Schedule appointments and maintain updated calendars for medical professionals
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information and update records as necessary
- Collect copayments and process payments, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Maintain tidy and organized reception area, ensuring a professional and welcoming atmosphere
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure timely check-ins and check-outs
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Collaborate with medical staff and other administrative personnel to ensure smooth operations
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance verification
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing patient records and processing payments
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing practices is a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
