Family Nurse Practitioner, PRN

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct care in managed clinics across various locations
- Performs comprehensive examinations, diagnoses acute, chronic, and urgent primary care conditions
- Formulates therapeutic plans, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, manages medications, and educates patients and families
- Coordinates patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely care
- Liaise between clinical staff and consult services, and consult with physicians and healthcare team members
- Orders and evaluates effectiveness of therapeutic modalities
- Performs primary care procedures and provides health maintenance including immunizations and screenings
- Counsels and instructs patients and significant others on medications, diseases, procedures, and preventive healthcare
- Assesses and stabilizes emergent conditions, and determines patient disposition
- Documents clinical encounters and performs follow-up care
- Applies, models, and teaches evidence-based treatment and care
- Precepts nursing students and promotes cost savings and optimal patient experience
- Participates in continuous process improvement, data reporting, and scholarly projects
- Serves on committees, provides presentations, and participates in staff development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner
- Requires an active license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner, in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a family nurse practitioner
- At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required
- American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and electronic health records, some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Experience in health professions education is preferred
