About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide direct care in managed clinics across various locations
Performs comprehensive examinations, diagnoses acute, chronic, and urgent primary care conditions
Formulates therapeutic plans, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, manages medications, and educates patients and families
Coordinates patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely care
Liaise between clinical staff and consult services, and consult with physicians and healthcare team members
Orders and evaluates effectiveness of therapeutic modalities
Performs primary care procedures and provides health maintenance including immunizations and screenings
Counsels and instructs patients and significant others on medications, diseases, procedures, and preventive healthcare
Assesses and stabilizes emergent conditions, and determines patient disposition
Documents clinical encounters and performs follow-up care
Applies, models, and teaches evidence-based treatment and care
Precepts nursing students and promotes cost savings and optimal patient experience
Participates in continuous process improvement, data reporting, and scholarly projects
Serves on committees, provides presentations, and participates in staff development

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience
One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner
Requires an active license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner, in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a family nurse practitioner
At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required
American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate
Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and electronic health records, some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
Experience in health professions education is preferred
