About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform administrative duties, community engagement activities, curriculum training, and implementation for the Texas A&M Opioid Prevention for K-12 Students (TOPS) program
Serve as a liaison between community and school decision-makers to build capacity
Coordinate cultivation and engagement events with schools and community decision-makers
Plan, implement, and evaluate opioid prevention awareness and education programs
Mobilize key decision-makers in delivery of TOPS project activities
Collaborate with the Area Team on community-event logistics and support
Conduct site visits across area counties to monitor TOPS activities and support partners
Plan meetings with community partners to identify youth opioid-prevention strategies and goals
Oversee opioid-prevention awareness activities and support schools accessing TOPS resources
Train community partners in the TOPS curriculum as a co-peer-leader
Deliver fentanyl-focused opioid-prevention awareness campaigns in targeted Texas locations
Collect program data and prepare monthly reports tracking progress
Maintain activity logs, perform routine program reporting, and monitor deliverable milestones
Oversee daily fiscal and purchasing activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Four years of public, community, external relations, event planning, or related experience
Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and/or Community Health Worker Instructor (CHWI) qualification is identified for well-qualified candidates
Experience providing CHW training sessions
Master’s degree in public health, health, or another related field is identified for well-qualified candidates
Experience in public, community, or external relations or event planning
Experience working within a State of Texas-certified CHW training program/site
Education in public health, community health, health education, or similar
Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral
Knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet applications
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Sound judgment
Ability to travel independently to other and remote locations by driving and/or commercial airlines
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% or more
Availability to work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends
Successful criminal history investigation and institutional verification of credentials and other required information
