Key responsibilities & impact

Perform complete audits and validation testing on cell phones.
Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential solutions and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations.
Apply software fixes and/or additional accessibility features within the target software source code.
Develop and deliver informative and useful high quality outreach/educational presentations.
Prepare and conduct training on accessibility related topics.

Requirements

What you’ll need

B.A. or B.S. in computer science, information technology, human computer interaction, or related field preferred.
Knowledge of, as well as ability to test against, Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 requirements for IT software and hardware.
Cell phone hardware testing experience.
Specifically, we are looking for an engineer with experience in the following IT Accessibility Requirement (from WCAG 2.1 AA): Section 1194.23 Telecommunications Products.
Specifically, “1194.23 (i) Interference to hearing technologies (including hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive listening devices) shall be reduced to the lowest possible level that allows a user of hearing technologies to utilize the telecommunications product”.
ANSI standard C63.19, "American National Standard for Methods of Measurement of Compatibility between Wireless Communications Devices and Hearing Aids”.
Use of appropriate test equipment to measure and determine Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) Ratings (such as, M3, T4).
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail for heavy documentation; verbal communication skills for training and development.
Experience working effectively with several clients or project teams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Possession of relevant certifications such as: DHS Trusted Tester IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies "CPACC" IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Credential
