About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Working with the relevant Lead Engineer
Responsible for both the continual product development of the existing machines in our range and the design & development of our next generation of mobile environmental equipment
Provide engineered solutions for the development of new products and the continual improvement of the existing Ecotec Range
Work with a team to investigate and address customer complaints
Assist in the resolution of problems at the root cause quickly and effectively
Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability
Provide the Ecotec dealer network with the required support and service that they require
Produce a full design package for manufacturing including detailed drawings, exploded drawings, engineering BOMs etc.
Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with the production department, purchasing and suppliers.
Follow group standards in the areas of quality, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Competent user of 3D solid modelling CAD, ideally Creo
Familiarity with product data management (PDM) systems
Design experience in the mobile machinery industry or similar heavy equipment design
Good technical expertise in both mechanical and hydraulic systems
Good English communication skill, both written and spoken
Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering
An understanding of the various applications that the equipment can operate in along with an appreciation for the expected performance of the machines.
