About the role
- Responsible for implementing the site's strategic and operational objectives for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).
- Point of contact for all occupational safety, health and environmental protection matters.
- Promote awareness of the importance of occupational safety measures among employees and managers.
- Investigate workplace incidents and document findings.
- Review plant equipment and technical work equipment prior to commissioning.
- Conduct and analyze EHS audits and develop tailored improvement measures.
- Perform site inspections, workplace assessments, and risk assessments.
- Develop safety policies and operating instructions.
- Report and analyze safety-related incidents.
- Advise management on occupational safety and environmental protection matters.
- Further develop the company's safety concept.
Requirements
- Completed degree in engineering or natural sciences (Diploma or Master's), ideally with a focus on occupational safety and/or environmental sciences.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in occupational safety, health, and environmental protection, including related management systems.
- Experience working in a manufacturing/production company.
- Certification as an internal auditor for ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and ISO 19011.
- Solid knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and standards, including German statutory accident insurance regulations (Berufsgenossenschaft/BG rules).
- Proof of specialist competence as a waste officer and as an emissions protection & major-incident (Störfall) officer; knowledge of fire protection is an advantage.
- Experience in machine safety and the relevant legal requirements and standards is desirable.
- Experience managing external service providers and working with external authorities, the Berufsgenossenschaft, and internal bodies such as the works council.
- Strong implementation skills combined with a high sense of responsibility and pragmatic approach.
- Strong organizational skills, a proactive work style and the drive to continuously improve processes.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ideally leadership experience and the ability to work collaboratively across departmental boundaries.
- Good written and spoken English (approx. B1 level) and fluent German.
