About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • A training position which requires enrollment in a Cancer Information Management Program with expected completion within 18 months of hire and attainment of CTR credentials.
  • Demonstrates incremental understanding and competency in follow-up, casefinding, suspense, and abstracting.
  • Demonstrates progressive competency in ICD-O coding, FORDS, Collaborative Staging, AJCC Staging, Multiple Primary & Histology Coding Rules, and Texas Cancer Registry and National Cancer Data Base reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Program Standards.
  • Meets all internal and external training targets.
  • Assists in the coordination of cancer conferences.
  • Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree in Allied Health related field from an accredited school with evidence of enrollment in a National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) Cancer Information Management accredited program
  • 1 year in Cancer Registry, Health Information Management or other Allied Health field.
  • Must possess basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • 2 years of cancer registry experience is preferred
  • Must obtain Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification within 18 months of hire or transfer into department or position
  • Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
