About the role

  • Screen self-pay patients at hospital bedside for eligibility in governmental and non-governmental programs
  • Identify all sources of potential payors including auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, commercial insurance, private insurance, and TPL
  • Obtain and complete the Confidential Financial Statement form and assist patients in applying for benefits
  • Conduct interviews with patients and/or family members and record and maintain complete documentation of activities
  • Perform financial clearance functions including collections and prepare accounts for Financial Assistance review
  • Follow up on assigned accounts to ensure follow-through on government applications
  • Conduct field visits to patient homes for skip tracing and assisting patients with documents
  • Notify hospital case management, social services and admissions staff of screening determinations and outcomes
  • Work in both hospital and office facilities with direct contact with patients and staff; some travel may be required

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Social Services or Hospital Admitting or related area
  • Working familiarity with the rules and regulations pertaining to Federal, State and County programs
  • P/C systems literate including Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and clear understanding of the English language
  • Detail oriented, with strengths in dealing with multiple facilities, Supervisors, and Hospital platforms
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with efficiency
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)
  • Conifer requires candidates to obtain and provide confirmation of required vaccinations and screenings prior to the start of employment (may include COVID-19 and influenza)
  • Ability to travel if required
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods and to walk through hospital environments and visit patients at bedside
