About the role

  • Provides protection for staff, patients, visitors, volunteers, physicians, students, and property at the hospital(s) in accordance with policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives.
  • Monitors and secures environment for patients, visitors, and associates; monitors parking facilities, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic; patrols secured and non-secured areas.
  • Inspects areas for safety or hazards and identifies problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Responds to security alarms and emergency situations and follows established emergency procedures: Fire, Disaster, etc.
  • Coaches to assist patients, visitors, and associates; demonstrates assistive tasks and establishes rapport.
  • Identifies and collects data needed for problem solving and documents actions taken or incident involvement.
  • Demonstrates communication skills; provides clear instructions and listens with patience and empathy.
  • May serve in capacity of K-9 unit (handler and dog) when assigned; may serve as shuttle/courier driver when assigned.
  • Utilizes department equipment (two way radio communication, o.c. spray, etc.) and participates in organizational record-keeping (Event Reporting System).
  • Assists Director and Operations Leads to achieve department goals; may perform shift lead duties and assist in training new Security Officers.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years in a security role, law enforcement, or military background; or, a minimum of 3 years of strong customer service roles with the ability and willingness to learn security practices.
  • Current valid unsuspended Arizona Driver’s License
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to security to ensure a safe environment at CHN.
  • Ability to utilize department equipment (i.e. two way radio communication, o.c. spray, etc.)
  • Ability to perform patrols, inspections, emergency response, investigations, documentation, and assist with training when assigned.
