About the role

  • Protect company interests and advance business objectives related to HIM coding
  • Manage a team conducting coding quality reviews of Tenet TPR coded accounts
  • Identify education opportunities based on reviews and develop/deliver educational content
  • Perform annual Pro-Fee QA audits of assigned providers (E&M, CPT, ICD10, Modifiers) and assigned TPR GBC or Vendor coders
  • Conduct Pre-Bill Clearance for all new assigned providers
  • Perform focused QA audits as assigned (e.g., OIG workplan, payor review notifications)
  • Provide provider/coder/practice coding education based on audit findings and trending
  • Conduct claim denial root cause analysis and develop/deliver education to prevent denials
  • Serve as coding education resource for providers, coders, practice and staff queries
  • Communicate and present findings effectively in person and via online platforms
  • Supervise, schedule and assess performance of coding auditor/educator FTEs domestically and in the GBC
  • Coordinate and monitor Coding Manager meetings, assignments and activities as assigned by Senior Director of Coding and CDI
  • Remote based role requiring travel 0-10%

Requirements

  • Seven years progressive coding or coding review experience in a profee setting
  • Associate’s degree in health information management or related field
  • Previous managerial/supervisory experience, such as a profee coding supervisor
  • Certified in coding from AAPC or AHIMA
  • Knowledge of applicable federal regulations (APC/OPPS, NCCI, ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines, OPPS, Coding Clinic, etc.)
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate findings and deliver educational content to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to balance multiple deadlines
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related discipline
