About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures on Tempus patients
Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique and following department procedures
Prepare, label, and package specimens for laboratory testing
Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting collection times
Verify test orders by comparing patient information against requisition forms
Verify patient identity prior to every draw and confirm the correct test requisition
Schedule blood draws and coordinate collection times
Monitor sample shipments between Tempus, client pathology, and partner facilities
Update job status and specimen tracking information in Tempus systems
Manage phlebotomy supply and kit stock at the account

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or equivalent required; BS/BA degree or RN preferred
Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required; oncology experience preferred
National Phlebotomy Certification required or obtained per the requirements of the state of practice
Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, aseptic technique, and specimen handling
Experience with Epic or comparable EMR systems preferred
Strong customer-service orientation and the ability to work independently in a client-embedded setting
