About the role
- Collaborate with external providers and internal teams to implement EHR/EMR integrations, including order and result interfaces, clinical data ingestion, and interoperability workflows.\n
- Support new customer onboarding by providing clear communication, technical guidance, and issue resolution throughout the integration process.\n
- Analyze, map, and validate healthcare data from various EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Athena, etc.), ensuring compliance with HL7, FHIR, and other interoperability standards.\n
- Monitor data quality and integrity, troubleshooting issues related to missing or inconsistent clinical data.\n
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to optimize integration workflows, enhance automation, and reduce implementation timelines.\n
- Maintain and document best practices, integration guides, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and scalability.\n
- Support the connectivity and data integration roadmap, ensuring alignment with Tempus' strategic goals.\n
- 8+ years of experience in healthcare data integration, EHR interoperability, or a related field.\n
- Proficiency in HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.), FHIR (R4), API-based integrations, and clinical data standards.\n
- Experience working with EHRs such as Epic (Aura, Care Everywhere), Cerner, Flatiron, or similar platforms.\n
- Familiarity with the Unix command-line and Git with serialization formats for data exchange (JSON, CSV, etc).\n
- Ability to edit and modify short Java programs or Python scripts.\n
- Hands-on experience with data transformation, validation, and ETL tools.\n
- Experience with interface engines (Corepoint, Mirth, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or similar).\n
- Strong SQL skills for querying, validating, and troubleshooting healthcare data.\n
- Experience working with APIs (REST, SOAP, OAuth 2.0, JSON, XML) for healthcare system integrations.\n
- Understanding of HIPAA, PHI data security, and regulatory compliance in healthcare integrations.\n
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools to track interface performance and troubleshoot issues.\n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills\n
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities\n
- Nice to Have:\n
- Epic Interconnect API, FHIR Bulk Data Access, or Epic Bridges experience.\n
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data pipelines.\n
- Familiarity with identity management solutions (OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect) in a healthcare setting.\n
- Experience with machine learning-ready data structures or real-world evidence (RWE) pipelines in healthcare analytics.
