About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with teams across the company to map current workflows and identify high-value AI automation opportunities
  • Decide what to automate, what to assist, and what should remain with a person
  • Build and ship production-grade AI agents and workflows end to end
  • Integrate AI solutions with BigQuery, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Workspace, and Salesforce
  • Build shared infrastructure including connectors, reusable skills and templates, retrieval and memory layers, and scaling standards
  • Document solutions and train and enable users to drive adoption
  • Measure adoption, hours saved, and reliability; iterate on solutions after launch
  • Design guardrails, human approvals, logging, and evaluation into workflows
  • Apply identity, auditability, safety, data governance, and vendor risk standards
  • Monitor developments in AI and provide practical recommendations
  • Report to the leader of AI Ops and build within the company's governance and standards layer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years in software, applied AI, data, or automation engineering, including taking solutions from prototype to production
  • Hands-on experience building agentic AI with multi-step agents that use tools, hold context, and take real actions
  • Comfortable with Python or similar programming languages
  • Experience with prompt engineering, tool and function calling, API integration, and grounding against real data
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code and the Anthropic Claude API, Google Vertex AI, or comparable agent-building platforms
  • Strong systems thinking, including identifying dependencies, edge cases, and failure modes
  • Ability to understand business processes, ship automations, and drive adoption
  • Clear communication with non-technical teams and senior leadership
  • Bias toward shipping and measuring while respecting security, identity, and data governance
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in the Atlassian ecosystem, or building automations for operations, go-to-market, or finance teams, is a plus
  • Based in North America with flexibility to work across North American time zones
