About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide administrative support and advice to internal and external clients on human resource, pension, benefits and payroll plans
- Verify, process, input and maintain plan activity within established time and quality standards
- Process client transactions and confirm data accuracy with appropriate controls for audit verification
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Monitor and maintain client databases
- Prepare routine correspondence and moderately complex reports
- Administer plans, accounts and transactions according to plan provisions, client policies, procedures, contractual requirements and legislation
- Liaise between client groups, TES business units and vendors
- Facilitate problem resolution between clients and vendors
- Resolve discrepancies and process problems using standard work procedures
- Monitor team members’ activities and output for policy, accuracy and quality compliance
- Respond to external and internal client inquiries professionally and promptly
- Educate clients and employees on policies, procedures, standards and processes
- Monitor existing procedures and controls and identify opportunities to strengthen them
- Provide ongoing training, mentoring and functional direction to team members
- Act as a subject matter expert
- Review, check and approve trainee work
- Identify and recommend routine improvements to efficiency and productivity
- Participate in special projects such as system upgrades, business process improvement initiatives and test-plan development
- Perform other related duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post-Secondary Education in Business, Accounting, Human Resources or equivalent combination of experience, education and training
- Completion of some courses for the Canadian Payroll Association, Certified Employee Benefit Specialist, Human Resources and/or Customer Services courses; or equivalent work experience
- Completion of second level CGA or CMA program, or equivalent; or second year diploma/certificate in a recognized financial management/accounting program and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of experience, education and training
- 5 years in a Customer Service, Human Resources, Payroll, Recruitment and Accounting business setting, or related skills and experience
- Good knowledge of applicable legislation relating to employee compensation, including the Income Tax Act, Workers Compensation Act and Employment Standards Act
- Experience working with multi-union environments
- Experience using spreadsheet and e-mail applications, preferably MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
- Extensive experience in research, analysis and information gathering
- Experience with databases such as PeopleSoft, Time & Labour, Kronos, Recruitment Management System and MEDGATE
- Experience in verification and reconciliation of various types of accounts and computer interfaces
- Experience in Query Reporting
- Developed knowledge specific to the specialty of the business unit
