About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Issue recommendations and influence system verification and validation of the Telesat Lightspeed LEO system
  • Develop system and subsystem verification matrices against system requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in system-level test planning, execution, and reporting
  • Serve as a SATCOM or networking subject matter expert and support technical staff
  • Develop and maintain test cases and required test beds
  • Perform hands-on testing in the LEO Lab for data path and routing features
  • Collaborate with DevOps, ground systems, and satellite segments
  • Participate in component and subsystem design and test activities
  • Configure satellite link emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators
  • Ensure tested products meet technical, functional, performance, and business requirements
  • Work with antenna, modem, and RF component vendors on SOW, SRR, test requirements, test plans, test results, and RVTM reviews
  • Support antenna integration with modems and other interfaces
  • Support internal test-plan and verification-method development
  • Support Over The Air (OTA) test planning, activities, and test automation
  • Support system acceptance planning for LEOP and IOT

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in satellite communications
  • 5+ years of experience with flat-panel, parabolic, and aero antennas; Ka-band preferable
  • 5+ years of experience with satellite RF communication systems and modulation/coding standards such as DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2
  • Strong understanding of RF engineering principles and design practices
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and satellite channel emulators
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation, coding, and satellite-link performance
  • Experience with satellite link-budget analysis and link impairments
  • Experience with test-case and defect-tracking tools such as Jira and Jama
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to work onsite at least 4 days per week
  • Must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
