About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work in the Surveillance Systems Division on high-performance imaging and laser systems
- Collaborate with a diversified, cross-disciplinary team across multiple locations
- Provide technical leadership from conceptual design through testing and production implementation
- Design densely packaged opto-mechanical parts and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Design optical airborne sensor payloads
- Develop mechanical specifications and planning for electro-optical system design
- Test complex opto-mechanical mechanisms and optical systems
- Design electronic packaging for printed circuit boards
- Communicate effectively with cross-discipline teams located at multiple sites
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 5 years’ experience designing opto-mechanical parts and assemblies
- Experience designing with a solid-modeling CAD program; SolidWorks a plus
- Understanding of drafting standards, including geo-tolerancing
- Knowledge of stress and thermal analysis desired
- Solid PC skills, including MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience working within a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce
