About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Vice President, Head of Employment and Immigration Law and partners with Human Resources and business managers to manage risk and provide employment and labor law and immigration law support
  • Provide analysis and advise on issues related to hiring, terminations, performance management, compensation, immigration, investigations, accommodations, reorganizations, and other employment-related matters
  • Monitor changes legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities
  • Draft and revise policies, procedures and other employment-related documents and agreements
  • Manage internal audits and process reviews, and new policy creation and implementation
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal risks and developing strategies to avoid costly litigation.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Law degree from a major U.S. law school (or foreign equivalent) required with active license to practice law in one of the following states: New York; Illinois; California; Texas; or District of Columbia
  • At least 2 years of labor & employment experience at a law firm and/or in an in-house legal department
  • Strong analytical, writing, oral communication, research, investigatory, advocacy, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Vision and experience in strategic initiatives beyond tactical implementation, including balancing legal and business needs while assessing appropriate risk to make tough decisions
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies, state and federal legislation
  • Experience with responding to demand letters, preparing position statements, and with litigation generally.
