About the role
- Manage and maintain complex software systems.
- Perform application software implementations and upgrades.
- Ensure high availability, security and integrity of assigned applications.
- Monitor applications, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and application, monitoring error logs, and automating administration tasks wherever possible.
- Install application patches and releases on development, test, pre-production, and production systems.
- Serve as key person in troubleshooting system problems.
- Create and maintain accurate system documentation for assigned systems.
- Maintain current descriptions and documentation of application and system configurations, including tracking and documenting any changes to environments.
- Assist in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning on assigned systems.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans.
- Analyzes performance trends to optimize application performance.
- Administer and maintain the DLA's VMware vSphere/vCenter environments, including installing, configuring, and upgrading virtualization platforms.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of virtual machines (VMs), troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide technical support for the deployment and management of Cloud-based services, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS), ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
- Conduct regular system checks and audits to ensure compliance with security mandates and guidelines, implementing necessary security measures based on DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements.
- Manage the lifecycle of virtual machines, including provisioning, updates, snapshots, and backups, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Collaborate with the Virtual Platform Management Team on project development and implementation, ensuring that all initiatives are effectively supported and aligned with organizational goals.
- Participate in incident handling and change management processes, utilizing the DLA Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) Remedy system to track and resolve incidents, work orders, and change requests promptly.
- Provide training and documentation for staff on virtualization technologies, fostering knowledge sharing and enhancing team capabilities.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on system performance, incident resolution, and compliance status, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Participate in after-hours callback support as needed, providing timely responses to urgent issues outside regular business hours.
Requirements
- Must possess Secret Clearance
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the management and maintenance of virtualized server environments and hosted applications
- At least two years of qualifying experience managing successful large scale, multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems administration) projects involving virtual servers.
- DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II CCNA Security CySA+ GICSP GSEC Security+ CE SSCP CND
- Computing Environment Certification (One of the following): VMware VCP-DCV 2020 or newer VCAP 2020 or newer AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Associate AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Professional AWS Certified Security-Specialty Google Associate Cloud Engineer Google Professional Cloud Architect Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2024 Certified Multicloud Architect Associate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2024 Certified Architect Associate Oracle Cloud Infrastructure 2024 Cloud Operations Professional
