About the role
- Develop a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and emerging trends, including macroeconomic, regulatory, sustainability, and competitive factors—to define short- and long-term product strategies.
- Analyze customer segmentation and market landscapes to identify opportunities, competitive positioning, and areas of differentiation (e.g. foam or rigid trays, retail vs. institutional segments, etc.).
- Support the development and execution of accelerated growth programs by evaluating market attractiveness, defining the right-to-win in new segments, and building actionable go-to-market plans.
- Shape and communicate Tekni’s value proposition and competitive positioning through comprehensive product portfolio assessments, including SWOT analyses, product portfolio optimization and rationalization, competitive benchmarking, and win/loss learnings.
- Partner with Sales to strengthen the commercial pipeline, translate opportunities into revenue, and foster stronger, long-term customer relationships.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Global Innovation Center (GIC), Marketing, and Sales to create and execute a 5-year Product Line Roadmap.
- Lead monthly cross-functional reviews to track product line performance, including top-line growth, margin improvement, cash flow, and balance sheet impact.
- Develop and refine the Product & Service Offer (P&SO) to align with customer needs while optimizing operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Support business unit capital investment processes and conduct make-versus-buy analyses to inform growth-oriented decisions.
- Oversee innovation and development (I&D) initiatives to drive product differentiation and market expansion.
- Lead Product Line Expansions (PLE) initiatives to enhance existing offerings and capture new opportunities.
- Execute SKU rationalization to streamline the product portfolio across all product lines (Cartons & Trays) and materials (FPS, PET & Fiber).
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure on-time, high-quality product development that meets market and customer requirements.
- Write clear product requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria to guide engineering and design teams.
- Align production capabilities with customer demand to ensure efficient and responsive supply.
- Champion innovation through differentiated product and packaging solutions that strengthen competitive advantage.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and elevate customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain data-driven pricing strategies that balance competitiveness with profitability.
- Ensure pricing consistency, governance, and hygiene across product lines and systems.
- Develop and execute comprehensive Go-To-Market plans for the Egg business, leveraging existing products and driving new product development.
- Define target customers, product positioning, messaging, and pricing strategies.
- Map key market niches, monitor share of wallet, and support Sales in prioritizing customer targets through focused campaigns and proposals.
- Craft compelling value propositions, user stories, and brand narratives that differentiate Tekni-Plex solutions and strengthen brand awareness in collaboration with Communications and Marketing.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to manage product launches, promotional activities, and post-launch performance monitoring.
- Continuously optimize product positioning and commercial performance based on market feedback and analytics.
- Develop sales support strategies to drive revenue growth, customer penetration, and market share.
- Collaborate with Sales to define pricing on RFIs, RFPs, and customer-specific requests, ensuring alignment with profitability targets.
- Establish clear KPIs and dashboards to track product performance, focusing on market share and share of wallet and year-over-year growth. Continuously refine strategies based on performance data, customer insights, and market feedback.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience on Product Management, marketing or sales.
- Consumer products Food and Beverage experience is mandatory, direct Egg industry experience would be a big differential.
- Packaging industry experience a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills to translate market insights into actionable plans for packaging solutions.
- Superior analytical capabilities, judgment and proactive nature in solving a broad range of diverse and complex situations
- Strong project management skills, with a focus on fostering innovation and collaboration.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Being Bilingual in English/Spanish is mandatory due to the intercompany processes with LATAM (mainly Mex and Col) and accounting processes centralized in LATAM.
