About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the Level 3 technical authority for Oracle Solaris and SPARC environments
- Analyze and resolve major or complex incidents related to boot processes, OpenBoot PROM, boot devices, Zones, LDOMs, ZFS, UFS, networking, and storage
- Define, review, and approve technical standards, operating procedures, change plans, rollback plans, and validation criteria
- Design and oversee Solaris 10-to-Solaris 11 migrations, UFS-to-ZFS migrations, SPARC T-Series migrations, and SAN storage migrations
- Assess risks, application dependencies, maintenance windows, and rollback mechanisms before critical changes
- Lead root cause analyses and provide recommendations following major incidents
- Design or review business continuity, redundancy, and disaster recovery plans, including RTOs, RPOs, and test scenarios
- Coordinate technical escalations with Oracle, IBM, and other vendors as required
- Guide Level 2 Solaris administrators, provide mentoring, and contribute to knowledge transfer
- Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and provide critical after-hours support when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hold a bachelor's degree or college diploma in computer science, or equivalent training, combined with significant relevant experience
- Have at least 10 years of experience in information technology, including at least 8 years in Solaris administration and architecture
- Proficiency with Solaris 10 and Solaris 11, SPARC servers, LDOM, CDOM, Solaris Zones, UFS, ZFS, and OpenBoot PROM
- Advanced experience with SAN and Fibre Channel environments, including HBAs, zoning, LUNs, multipathing, performance, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of IBM SVC, IBM Storwize, V5000, or V7000 is a significant asset
- Experience with migrations, high availability, backup, restoration, and disaster recovery
- Good knowledge of Linux, Oracle, VMware, TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, VLANs, and monitoring tools
- Oracle Solaris 11 certification or equivalent certification is a significant asset
- Excellent spoken and written French; functional technical English
- Technical leadership, composure in critical situations, sound judgment, autonomy, and excellent documentation skills
