About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer and maintain Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 environments
- Operate and support global and non-global zones, LDOMs, system services, and associated configurations
- Manage UFS and ZFS file systems, pools, mounts, capacity, snapshots, and routine operations
- Perform installations, upgrades, patching, post-change validation, and preventive maintenance activities
- Analyze alerts, logs, performance issues, and incidents affecting servers, services, networks, or storage
- Participate in backups, restores, recovery testing, and disaster recovery activities
- Validate LUN visibility, SAN paths, and multipathing in collaboration with storage specialists
- Prepare and execute changes and migrations in accordance with approved procedures and rollback plans
- Automate administrative tasks using shell scripts, Ansible, or equivalent tools
- Document interventions and update tickets, procedures, inventories, and operating guides
- Participate in knowledge transfer and a scheduled on-call rotation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hold a Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent training
- At least 5 years of experience in Unix/Linux administration, including at least 3 years with Solaris
- Strong proficiency with Solaris 10 and Solaris 11, Solaris Zones, ZFS, UFS, and a working knowledge of LDOMs
- Experience with installation, patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
- Knowledge of backups, restores, disaster recovery environments, and change procedures
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of SAN, Fibre Channel, HBAs, LUNs, multipathing, and TCP/IP
- Knowledge of Linux, VMware, Oracle, Zabbix, IBM TSM, Rubrik, or NetBackup is an asset
- Experience with Ansible, shell scripting, and a ticket management tool
- Excellent spoken and written French; functional technical English
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, service-minded, and able to work in a critical environment
