About the role

  • Volunteer General Legal Counsel / Charity Solicitor providing legal advice and support to CEO and Board of Directors/Trustees on key legal issues.
  • Support the development of long-term strategies, including supporting the advancement of the Charity, and any commercial subsidiaries.
  • Develop and lead legal training where appropriate.
  • Prepare documents, evidence, arguments and identify legal precedents to justify organisation's decisions and actions.
  • Act as a point of contact to the organisation in relation to any legal matters or action.
  • Keep the organisation up to date and informed of new and existing laws and regulations applicable to operations and industry.
  • Report directly to the CEO and volunteer on an ad-hoc basis (~3 hours per week).

Requirements

  • Be a qualified solicitor or recognised legal professional, with recent experience in providing legal advice and support to charities or companies in the UK.
  • Experience as a solicitor or legal professional within the non-profit/charity sector is essential.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of specific laws and regulations pertaining to the industry that Youth4Youth works in, as well as local laws within the United Kingdom.
  • Ability to interpret and convey complex legal information in an understandable format.
  • Public speaking skills and the ability to present and defend legal arguments.
