About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a Tecsys subject matter expert on pharmacy operations, purchasing workflows, inventory management, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
- Maintain deep knowledge of pharmacy market dynamics, operational challenges, and evolving customer needs.
- Provide expert guidance on pharmacy regulations and standards, including DSCSA, 340B, controlled substances, medication traceability, and audit requirements.
- Partner with Product Management to translate pharmacy workflows and market needs into scalable software capabilities.
- Help define best-practice product behavior for pharmacy-specific workflows, including:
- pharmacy purchasing and sourcing strategies
- medication procurement and wholesaler ordering
- contract compliance and purchasing optimization
- inventory optimization
- replenishment
- shortage mitigation and substitutions
- lot and expiry management
- pharmacy automation integrations.
- Validate solution designs to ensure they align with real-world pharmacy operations.
- Support Engineering by providing requirements and clarification for complex pharmacy-related initiatives.
- Support strategic sales opportunities by helping validate prospect requirements and demonstrating pharmacy domain credibility.
- Participate in customer discovery sessions, executive discussions, and strategic account engagements.
- Help position Tecsys solutions against market needs and competitive alternatives.
- Advise implementation and services teams on workflow design, best practices, and operational optimization.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary customization by promoting scalable best-practice workflows.
- Assist with complex customer challenges and strategic escalations.
- Monitor emerging trends in pharmacy technology, automation, analytics, and AI.
- Help identify strategic opportunities for product investment, partnerships, and innovation.
- Provide pharmacy domain insight to support long-term product strategy and market positioning.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep hands-on experience in hospital pharmacy, health system pharmacy, pharmaceutical distribution, or pharmacy operations.
- Formal education in Pharmacy, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline.
- Pharmacist designation or pharmacy degree strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy supply chain and purchasing concepts, including:
- pharmacy purchasing and procurement
- wholesaler ordering
- GPO and contract purchasing
- 340B purchasing workflows
- medication lifecycle management
- inventory control
- replenishment strategies
- shortages and substitutions
- lot traceability and expiration management
- Strong working knowledge of pharmacy regulations, including DSCSA and 340B.
- Ability to translate complex operational challenges into structured, scalable software and workflow solutions.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to collaborate effectively with software engineering and product teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
- Licensed pharmacist with clinical or operational pharmacy experience is an edge.
- Experience managing pharmacy purchasing, contract compliance, GPO purchasing, or medication spend optimization within a hospital or health system is an edge.
- Experience in integrated delivery networks or large health systems is an edge.
- Experience with pharmacy automation technologies such as automated dispensing cabinets, robotics, packaging, or fulfillment systems is an edge.
- Familiarity with healthcare supply chain platforms, ERP systems, or pharmacy information systems is an edge.
- Experience with analytics, optimization, or AI technologies applied to healthcare operations is an edge.
- Experience working in healthcare technology, SaaS, or enterprise software environments is an edge.
