About the role
- **Key Responsibilities:**
- - Manage and oversee FOIA litigation processes, including coordinating responses to litigation requests and tracking ongoing cases.
- - Review and analyze case files, legal documents, and records to ensure compliance with FOIA regulations.
- - Draft legal correspondence, pleadings, and other documentation related to FOIA requests and litigation.
- - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, to prepare for litigation and manage case strategies.
- - Conduct research on FOIA precedents, policies, and best practices to inform case strategy and decision-making.
- - Monitor developments in FOIA-related case law and regulations to ensure compliance and identify implications for ongoing cases.
- - Assist in preparing agency officials for depositions and court appearances.
- - Maintain accurate records of litigation activities and outcomes, reporting on metrics and case statuses as needed.
Requirements
- **Qualifications:**
- - Bachelor’s degree in law, public administration, information management, or a related field.
- - 3-5 years of experience in FOIA litigation or related legal analysis roles.
- - Strong understanding of FOIA regulations, litigation processes, and relevant case law.
- - Experience in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- - Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
- - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- - Adept at working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- - U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance if necessary.
