About the role
- Works directly with Operations Manager, Project Manager, and U.S. Government; establishes and maintains professional working relationships with Government, subcontractors and tenants
- Functions as first-line supervisor for HVAC shop; coordinates and supervises HVAC staff
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in staff work for facility maintenance and repair
- Determine materials, equipment, and supplies to be used; order supplies and prepare procurement documents
- Transfer equipment and personnel between projects as needed; coordinate scheduling and set work priorities
- Evaluate and verify employee performance through review of completed work and techniques; identify staff development needs and ensure training
- Train or coordinate training in maintenance and safety methods, procedures, and techniques; deliver safety briefs and occasional trainings
- Assist with preventative maintenance, quality control inspections, and safety inspection programs for facilities and equipment
- Perform monthly mileage and safety inspections on vehicles
- Review and approve purchase orders and procurement documentation
- Serve as subject matter expert troubleshooting, diagnosing complex problems, recommending and inspecting repairs
- Coordinate with subcontractors for contract services and assist in employee relations (staffing, scheduling, timekeeping, discipline, evaluations, coaching)
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent amounts of technical training and experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years journey-level experience in trades supervising with 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Experience with inspection, disassembly, assembly, replacement and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems (compressors, motors, burners, pumps, filters, ductwork, pipes, valves)
- Experience with refrigerants and their recovery systems and pressure vessels
- CFC Certification
- Valid driver’s license compliant with REAL ID Act or willingness/ability to obtain one
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
- Thorough knowledge of standard practices, tools and terminology in HVAC maintenance, repair, installation and operation
- Thorough knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions
- Advanced skill in installing, calibrating, troubleshooting and replacement of control systems
- Ability to monitor and evaluate problems and organizational performance
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company/customer/vendor/employee information
- Physical ability to carry objects short distances, lift up to 50 pounds with assistance, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work indoors/outdoors in various temperatures
