About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

You’ll serve as the outsourced Controller for a portfolio of US-based clients — communicating proactively, participating in calls and meetings, and ensuring every interaction reflects our high standards for service and responsiveness.
You’ll onboard new clients, building out the accounting processes, systems, and procedures that set each relationship up for long-term success.
You’ll lead special projects including system migrations, M&A preparation, budget development, chart of accounts redesigns, and other strategic financial initiatives.
You’ll prepare and review timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and management reports, providing strategic financial guidance to clients around growth, investor reporting, and compliance.
You’ll lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals — delegating daily tasks, reviewing and approving work products for accuracy and quality, and coordinating workload across multiple client engagements.
Your work and your team’s work will be cleanly organized in Karbon, our practice management system — a critical tool that sets everyone up for success managing work across multiple clients.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 10 years of overall accounting and finance experience with at least 3 years in a Controller role at a US-based public accounting firm.
Demonstrated experience supporting investor-backed (VC/PE) or high-growth businesses with > $5 Million annual revenue.
Deep technical proficiency across US GAAP, financial reporting standards, and US compliance including payroll, sales & use tax, property tax, and business licenses — along with hands-on experience in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online/Desktop, and Advanced Excel.
Ability to manage multiple client engagements concurrently without compromising quality — experience in a multi-client outsourced or CAS environment is strongly preferred.
Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals, with the ability to delegate, review work, and hold team members accountable to deadlines and quality standards.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for founders, CFOs, and investors.
